The Game we love... American Football

Why do so many people make this idiotic statement that american football is a kids game played by men? The first game recorded was 1869 Rutgers vs Princeton! The guys playing were not kids. Then soon after around 1892ish, men's athletic clubs across the nation formed teams to compete with one another! It was a hardcore game, leather helmets with no face guard and some guys didn't wear a helmet at all! Again, these teams were made up of grown men not kids! So why do people make the off the wall statement that it's a kids game? Is it to minimize their effort? Or maybe an attempt to devalue the men and the amount of work considering how much they get paid?

I just don't get it! But in my opinion, even though young boys play the game today, they can only emulate what the men are doing! Most times pretending to be their favorite player who is a grown man on a real team! It's no where near a kids game! It was built for men, unlike basketball!
