After some reading and from what I have tried....Steelers defensive playbook could be more like the Ravens defensive playbook. It seems that there will be a little more 4-3 schemes, basically OLB will have his hand on the ground. That can be changed in either audible call of scheme changes in game.

I used the playbook editor and each formation has base personnel. I setup packages/subs to exploit defensive scheme holes and mismatches. Is there a way to edit the games default playbooks base personnel to the current NFL personnel schemes, without having to create custom books?

Hey Jose. At least you did your research. In a more generalized way, when it comes to the New England offense, I best describe it as more of a one-back mixed with pro spread offense. Now teams like the Seahawks and the Eagles, they are more of your more read option (zone read) type teams. So Jose, thanks for doing your research and if you do decide with other help to convert all them to Madden 08, I think that would be a really swell project.

Best of luck to you, bro.

Thanks for the support. Sadly, there are some real life schemes that can't be replicated in 08. Since there are no Zone Read, Read Options or RPOs playbooks, I have to determine a playbook that most closely reflects the team I'm trying to represent. Hopefully I did a good job at it. Additionally, every playbook has I formation sets, which some teams don't use anymore, and no matter what playbook I give them, they will still use the I formation a fair amount of times, as opposed to mostly Gun sets. The obvious fix would be custom playbooks, but that is very tedious to do.

All right, the season is nearly over, so I'll post the final version of this. The Playbooks should be mostly the same (Except Cleveland, I had to research Freddie Kitchens earlier jobs), but added now are Pass/Run Ratio for offense and defense as well and Aggression for both offense and defense. I will be adjusting Offensive Aggression when Football Outsiders releases their Aggressiveness Index. I could base it on their respective QB's Intended Air Yards, which come from Next Gen Stats. Higher Air Yards = Higher Aggressiveness but I've been doing some research. Higher aggressiveness seems to increase the amount of deep passes, as well as other stuff like when to go for it on 4th down, when to kick a FG, when to take a penalty, and so on. Which is why I want FO's Aggressiveness Index. Similarly, I'll adjust defensive aggressiveness when Football Outsiders releases their blitz percentages (Unless I can find them elsewhere) or if I can find the man coverage vs. zone coverage split (I know New England's going to be pretty high).
2018 Coach Philosophies and Playbooks:

Like what you did by breaking the playbooks down..Yes I am leaning back toward the NE Offense Playbook, since the Pass/Run Ratio was 67/33. Tomlin's playbook is good also but that WildCat just is not used. Last time was with LeVeon Bell in SD to score the winning TD from the 1.
Defense is right on.. ..suggestion: in the 4-1-6 move the DEs to DT and place Watt and Dupree at DE, MLB should be Williams but on long distances use Fort. Use of the 3-3-5,3-2-6 3-1-7..the DL should go Heyward- Tuitt- Watt, LBs Williams- Fort- Edmunds at LB ( 3-2-6 only) in the 3-1-7 move Edmunds as the MLB.

Thanks for the update jose. I've been using this topic to make sure every coach has the correct playbook for the scheme they're running, very helpful!

jose21crisis wrote:All right, the season is nearly over, so I'll post the final version of this. Similarly, I'll adjust defensive aggressiveness when Football Outsiders releases their blitz percentages (Unless I can find them elsewhere) or if I can find the man coverage vs. zone coverage split (I know New England's going to be pretty high).

jose21crisis wrote:All right, the season is nearly over, so I'll post the final version of this.
