The very first selection in franchise history, in the expansion draft, was used on veteran center Dave Dalby. Dalby played in 205 games for the Raiders after being a selection by the team in the 1972 draft. Starting in 1974 through the 1985 season, he made 135 consecutive starts at center. Dave was named to the 1977 Pro Bowl and owns 3 Super Bowl rings with Oakland. He is the leader of the Baltimore offensive unit both on the field and in the the locker room.

During the 1986 NFL Draft the Cincinnati Bengals selected strong safety David Fulcher from Arizona State. David lead the Bengals in tackles in the afternoon contest at M&T Bank Stadium.

Cincinnati's D has shown a resurgence since the return of Tim Krumrie. The nose tackle ended the opening drive for Baltimore.

In his 19th career NFL game Jess Atkinson hit the first of his 3 field goal attempts from 20 yards out.

Jim Breech from the University of California proved he could kick one too, on the Bengals next possession.

With Boomer Esiason in the lineup today, Sam Wyche's offense ran smooth. Down Town Eddie Brown scores six in the second quarter.

Inside linebacker Roosevelt Barnes lead Baltimore with 11 tackles including 5 for a loss plus an interception off a deflection. Barnes was drafted by the Detroit Lions in 1982 and played in 57 games before being selected by the Ravens in the expansion draft.

Baltimore gets life in the third quarter when Nick Bruckner charges 37 yards to score. Also a selection in the expansion draft, Bruckner played in 32 games for the New York Jets in 3 seasons after coming to the team as a free agent from Syracuse University.

Defensive captain Gary Green intercepts Boomer and takes it 41 yards for the score electrifying the Baltimore faithful.

Tight End Cap Boso gets six putting the home team on top in the division matchup.

The new look of the National Football League beginning here in NFL 86. Reebok is the official partner with NFL Properties and has designed both the Baltimore Ravens uniforms and the NFL officials attire.

In the contest half back James Brooks carried the ball 20 times resulting in 3 touchdowns. With seconds on the clock Brooks silenced M&T Bank Stadium.

On a cold Chicago fall afternoon Kevin Butler connects for the first score.

Dan Marino starts the first period off by firing touchdown passes. On third down fullback Ron Davenport was all alone in the endzone.

Thomas Sanders gets the pass on the wheel route and takes it all the way.

Chicago attacked the Marino shoot out allowing Wilber Marshall to intercept the ball.

Strong side linebacker Jay Brophy scooped up a mishandled Bears football and cashed it in for six points. A native of Akron, Ohio, Jay enters his 3rd season in Miami following a collegiate career nearby at the U.

On the next possession Jim McMahon engineers an 8 play drive only to lose the ball while trying to cap it with six.

The first half shenanigans end when Paul Lankford scores a 58 yard pick six.

Fullback Matt Suhey scores the first points in the second half powering through Lankford.

Second year defensive lineman George Little made two tackles for a loss on third down in the closing quarter.

Mike Richardson stops another Miami drive with an athletic play on that beautifully animated football. I guess I like that 07 ball so much because the ball in 08 is such a let down.

5th year pro Jim McMahon threw for 338 yards in Ditka's ground attack today with 3 for the highlight reel. McMahon says the gloves help is game.

After 13 seasons with the Miami Dolphins Nat Moore shows he still can be spectacular.

Due to injuries in the Chicago secondary Barton Hundley has seen extensive action in NFL 86. A 1986 Bears draft selection out of Kansas State, Hundley played in 44 games in 4 seasons in college.

Corner Shaun Gayle intercepts Marino for the final time at Soldier Field and puts an end this football game.

Herman Heard offers protection for quarterback Bill Kenney to fire the touchdown pass putting the newly placed cross state rivals up top.

Stephone Paige from Long Beach, California was an undrafted free agent from Fresno State in 1983 and has climbed to the top of the depth chart for NFL 86.

Kansas City loses a special teams ace for the year when linebacker Angelo James heads to the lockerroom following a tackle.

Barry Dean Hackett was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1986 NFL draft and earned the starting inside linebacker in Walt Corey's defense. Dino lead the Kansas City defenders today with 13 tackles including 2 for a loss.

Rams corner LeRoy Irvin allowed Carlos Carlson to have 2 receptions in the game, but kept him out of the endzone.

The final Kansas City touchdown passes the goal line early in the final quarter after 11 year veteran Henry Marshall ends a 50 yard dash with Rams corner Jerry Gray hanging on.

Jim Everett got knocked out of competition in the closing period allowing Steve Dils to step back in at quarterback. The native of Vancouver, Washington was efficient in directing St. Louis to the final scoring drive.

Morten Andersen kicks the first score of the game after the Saints opening possession.

In the 1986 NFL draft the New Orleans Saints seleced 4 running backs. Rueben Mayes was drafted in the 3rd round and earned the starting position in training camp. Picked in the 2nd round was Dalton Hilliard from nearby LSU. Hilliard was given the workhorse assignment today in Raymond James Stadium after Mayes was hampered with injury early on. Dalton rushed for 119 yards on 19 carries but didn't score.

Picked in the 3rd round of the 86 draft was Patrick Swilling. The Saints rookie leads the team in tackles in 8 games.

Tampa Bay's first selection in the 1986 draft cornerback Rod Jones intercepts Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert while the passer was being knocked out of the game.

Quarterback Dave Wilson enters his 6th season with the New Orleans Saints and sees his first substantial action of the season stepping in for Hebert.

Fullback Buford Jordan scores the first touchdown of the game in the second quarter to push the away team up 10, nothing.

The Buccaneers defense played well for as long as the offense left them out there. Strong side linebacker Kevin Murphy had a team MVP performance sacking Dave Wilson and also picking off the quarterback in the 3rd period. Murphy was the 2nd round selection of the Buccaneers in the 1986 draft out of the University of Oklahoma.

New Orleans defense forced the Tampa offense into a record number of 3 and outs. Linebacker Rickey Jackson sacked Steve Young twice at Raymond James Stadium.

Strong safety Mike Prior has played as advertised in NFL 86 leading the NFL with forced fumbles. In week 9 he dislodged the ball from Saints receiver Eugene Goodlow with a hard hit.

Linebacker Eugene Lockhart from the University of Houston is in his 3rd season with the Dallas Doomsday Defense. The inside linebacker dominated between the hash marks today leading the football game with 14 tackles.

Lockhart later on is in the background as the CBS broadcast shows us the pitiful Cowboys offensive effort in the opening quarter.

31 year old Doug Williams has been knocked around in his return to the National Football League. The Grambling State all star watched the remained of the game from the sideline.

Jay Schroeder has been an ace reliever thus far in NFL 86 despite his non interest in football. Schroeder has said he would "rather be playing baseball as the next Johnny Bench" but has been attracted by the money offered by the Redskins to play second string in Washington.

Schroeder gets six the with a scoring strike to half back Keith Griffin.

Dallas finally gets on the scoreboard late in the second when Tony Dorsett busts 20 yards for six.

On the ensuing kickoff Clarence Verdin from the University of Louisiana at LaFayette took it all the way for the Redskins score.

TD returns to the endzone on the first possession of the second half for the Dallas Cowboys. Dorsett took a 2 yard pitch and ran 36 yards to tighten the score.

Cowboys right defensive end Jim Jeffcoat forces a punt later in the third with a quarterback takedown.

Cornerback Vernon Dean makes a play for the Washington defense. Dean is in his 5th season with the Redskins starting for much of his career after being a 1982 draft selection up until the 1985 season. The San Diego State graduate returned to the starting lineup in week 5 following an injury Barry Wilburn.

Left end Charles Mann harrassed and confused Dallas quarterback Steve Pelluer all game registering 3 sacks and hurrying the quarterback to throw errant passes.

Punter Mike Saxon in his second season with the club set career best numbers punting out of his own endzone today. Punting 5 times, he averaged over 50 yards including 2 inside the 20.

5'9" Gary Clark from James Madison University streaked 77 yards to put this game out of reach for the visiting division rivals.

Linebacker Monte Coleman is in his 9th year with the football club and his playing better than ever during NFL 86. Today he recorded 2 sacks and an interception.

Cornerback Everson Walls makes a play on the ball to give the Cowboys hope in the 4th quarter.

Quarterback Steve Pelluer has been enjoying a dream season playing for the Dallas Cowboys in his 3rd season until he entered week 9 at FedEx Field. Pelluer was sacked 7 times and threw 3 interceptions.

All world athlete Darrell Green silenced the Dallas faithful with a pick six on his second interception in the contest.

Herschel Walker was held for negative yardage for the majority of the game. He put the ball over the goalline for a positive gain after Dallas had already ran too short on minutes.

"Too Tall" Jones gets a hit in on Jay Schroeder before the final gun.
