Game Won't Start after Install

I recently installed Madden 2004 with my old discs on my Windows 7 64bit laptop. After the install the game will come up to the main start up screen (play, quit, update, etc.) and when I click play, nothing appears and the main screen disappears. I've tried switching compatibility and running as administrator. I'd appreciate any help, as I can not find anything that addresses my particular problem!

what is the compatibility did you use? just let me know if XP or 95 works...

Sounds like the 'Windows Update' problem.

I had a similar problem with Madden 08, I had to rollback a bunch of 2015 updates to get Madden to run.
