Patch not working!

What else does the patch do other than allow u to play online against others?

Strictly a guess here, but it probably mainly updated the rosters.
V1.0 was online enabled.

I have the amazon version too and this doesnt seem to work for me... Maybe bc of something I modded?

Yes.
Once you mod, the install goes to v0.0.

As far as I know, it permits IP to IP connections to allow play. You have to use the updated rosters from here, but that's all I'm aware of.

Since the FF mod has all of the patched files the only one needed is the ver.dat that Gridiron mentioned.

To update a fresh MADDEN 08 NFL installation to the v4.0 needed to participate in online play,
copy the four files contained in the zip to the listed destinations.

If you want to mimic the patcher then I recommend that you copy them to these folder destinations.
1) Program Files\Madden NFL 08\data0\DB_TEAMS.dat
2) Program Files\Madden NFL 08\data0\DB_TEMPLATES.dat
3) Program Files\Madden NFL 08\data0\StreamedData.db
4) Program Files\Madden NFL 08\ver.dat

However if you for some reason ever want to revert to v1.0,
then copy them to these folder destinations,
but before you do, save the v1.0 version ver.dat for the reversion process.
1) My Documents\Madden NFL 08\DB_TEAMS.dat
2) My Documents\Madden NFL 08\DB_TEMPLATES.dat
3) My Documents\Madden NFL 08\StreamedData.db
4) Program Files\Madden NFL 08\ver.dat
Then to revert from v4.0 (unmodded) back to v1.0,
all you'd need to do is delete the three My Documents\Madden NFL 08 files,
and restore the previously saved Program Files\Madden NFL 08\ver.dat.

This method of patching has been verified to work by rampski.

Nice one guys! Haven't tested it but was one of those things I just never got around to doing. I'm gonna keep those files in a safe place for future use

I find that the files that get updated when updating MADDEN 08 to version 4 will have a last mod date of December 5, 2007.
Three of the files in your zip have an earlier mod date, so these must be pre update versions of the libraries, correct?

So if the intent for the files in your zip is to manually patch an un-modded MADDEN 08 installation to the latest revision,
shouldn't we instead use the files in the attached zip?

I'll have to try this manual patch method on my next MADDEN 08 install to see if it actually works.

If you uploaded the correct files that's fantastic,... I may have zipped the unpatched ones.

Only if you modify the DB templates.......the rest of the dats don't affect the 4.0

If this works for Amazon Digital Download purchases of Madden 08, I'll be thrilled. There are countless amounts of people who want to play online, and we had no idea what to tell them to patch their game up to 4.0. Tried that ver.dat trick and I crashed a few times testing it. Heck, I bought an extra copy of madden off of amazon to see if I could get to the bottom of it... to no avail. Anyway, this post is a keeper. Thanks for the info Grid and the download this is a breakthrough.
