DID WE REALLY GET KHALIL MACK?!?!

Postby spydermanj » Sat Sep 08, 2018 4:44 am

Holy crap.
2x All Pro.
3x Pro Bowl.
Most QB pressures of ANY NFL player over the last 3 years.
2016 Defensive Player of The Year.
40.5 sacks in the last 4 years.
No red flags/disciplinary/arrest records.
No red HEALTH flags.
Only 27 years old, in the prime of his career.

Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting the 141 million dollar man, (and two first round picks) LINEBACKER/DE KHALIL MAACK!!!!

Honestly Gruden is dumb for letting ANYONE, let alone the guy paid to sack the QB, with this much talent to leave. Mack is proven, unlike the guy (or guys!!) that they try to replace him with in the draft. Good luck finding that elite, generational talent like Mack.

Yeah, it's inexplicable that the Raiders didn't even try to extend him and let go the heart of their defense. Gruden's Raiders should be bad (at the least the defense looks terrible on paper). However, they got a solid haul of picks for Mack so I guess they're playing for the future? It'd make more sense if this happened in baseball (see: Manny Machado trade). Poor fans in Oakland don't have a playoff-caliber team this year, and they probably won't be competitive until they're in Las Vegas.

I guess Gruden had enough of Mack's holdout or something ... that still doesn't explain why you trade the NFL's best DE/LB this side of Von Miller, and the only bright star in your defense. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Everyone that is going to play the Raiders this season got happy when Mack got traded. They got a lackluster defense, and their offense is so average, it's ok.
