Hex editing is for advanced users. I suggest you get your hands dirty to familiarize yourself with uniform editing.

Can one do numbers the same way as nameplates?
Like making the jersey color the background making it first in palette and hex editing it to transparent?
Assuming they all use the same palette obviously.

If your uniform is for a created team, you first need to find an open slot in the uniforms.dat. After that, you need to create a new entry in your roster's TUNI table as well as a new entry in DB Template file #12's UNIF table.

You'd likely still be able to tell there's letters there.

Created team's uniforms are different than the uniforms in the UNIFORM.dat file. The uniforms in the dat files are physical files that their settings come from the TUNI and UNIF tables.

Created team's uniform are not physical and their settings are in one of the CT** tables. However, their uniform template must come from a physical uniform. My suggestion is to first remove ( blank out) the nameplate of the physical uniform that is being used as the template.

http://footballidiot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19579 Use the UNIFORM.dat mapping file to locate template uniform and remove the nameplate. If that doesn't work then you will need to follow BIT's suggestion.
