Playbook in DB table of .ros/.fra

Postby bluegriffon » Mon Jul 13, 2020 3:29 pm

Are the Playbooks listed on the DAT table of the .ros or the .fra files for Madden 08? and is there a list that correseponds to them
(e.g.: 4-3 defense =0, 3-4 = 1, etc..)

They're in the COCH table CPID=Offense CDID=Defense

The ID# is the same as the team ID# except for generic playbooks they are...

Generic Defense Playbook ID#

4-3 = 32
3-4 = 33
46 = 34
Cover 2 = 35
Balanced D = 36
QB Contain = 37

Generic Offense Playbook ID#

Balanced = 32
Pass Balanced = 33
Run Balanced = 34
Run Heavy = 35
West Coast = 36
Custom Playbook = 37
Trick Plays = 38

The books are also listed in the roster, in the team table. The franchise use the book that is assigned to the offensive coordinator, not the head coach located in the Coch table! It is best to have each team's coaches assigned to use the same book!

All the while I was thinking it is the head coach. Should have been playing more to notice this early. Thanks for the info again. Will update the roster to reflect this.

When I initially started adding the 2020 books to the gamedata file, franchise teams weren't using them because I only assigned them the HC and not the coordinators! After I assigned them to the coordinators, all was good!

I am going to assume that the "run&gun/run&shoot" offense = 39 for that table?

No, that's incorrect. Never touch gamedata files in slots 39 or 40! Run-N-Gun/Shoot was in slot 78, replaced by custom playbook! And the ID's in team table of roster are not the same in gamedata. Please review the chart I have posted in the OP of the Madden 2020 Playbooks topic. If you import a offensive book into slot 32 of gamedata, crash and burn!

thanks.So if the run&gun/shoot is no longer 78 of the gamedata file and isn't 39 in the .fra COCH table, what is it? I have several teams in my "What if" league that use that offense (USFLs's Houston Gamblers and Denver Gold)

78 is a Custom Playbook imported into the mod when the Madden 12 books were imported. Launch Madden 08 to see what's inside. I never used it, and I replaced it (#78 gamedat) wit h a PS2 version of the original Run-N-Gun! You see the name Run-N-Gun only because the DB_templates file that has the playbooks names in them never got updated! There is no such books #39 or #40. There are 32 offensive books + 6 generic offensive books. 32 defenssive books + 6 generic defensive books included in Madden 08!

In exhibition play, the teams use the book assigned to the Head Coach. But in franchise, team's use the books assigned to the offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator!

That would explain why the 5WR set wasn't in Pittsburgh offense and 1-5-5 wasn't in the defense
